A dream on a napkin ...
Nilgiris Tea House came into being because one day I sketched on a paper napkin what I conceived my dream tea house would be -- and because my brother saved that napkin; and in the fulness of time, he built and birthed this little place.
That was 2003. It seems to me sometimes that the TH has taken on a life of its own, with me hanging on for dear life, wondering what each week will bring ... Those of you who know its history know the unpredictable path it has followed. As a matter of fact, some of you have left your own footprints on that path!
In this last season we have celebrated birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations; and we have also stood quietly and reverently as we have witnessed families say goodbye to their beloved one.
The TH has become more than a place for a beverage and something good to eat; it is evolving into a little community of its own. And that, I realize, was the unsketched part of the dream on the napkin that day. That's at the heart of Nilgiris Tea House.
In this space I will try to describe for you some of the "flavours" of the TH. The kettle's on -- come share a pot of tea with me!
