Web Goddess ... Day 5

I first met Heather through my sister; we all worked together for a short time at the Dairy King in Three Hills.

Matthew, my nephew, was completely drawn to her from when he was an infant. He called her Heather Feather.

An interesting thing about feathers is that they seem so light, so airy, almost inconsequential. They can catch the faintest puff of breeze and float off wherever it may blow them.

But in reality, feathers are fiercely tough and incredibly resilient. They are sophisticated and provide cover, protection, the ability to fly, and colour, among many other benefits.

So is Heather. Just looking at her and chatting casually with her you would never know how strong she is, how strong she has had to be. She has weathered incredible odds in her life and has beaten them all.

She is exquisite in a fairytale princess kind of way. Her voice is soft. She is not pushy.

Like those feathers she is made for beauty and light and colour and creativity. It is she who designed www.nilgiris.ca and who keeps up with the menu each week. I remember going to her graduating art show at Alberta College of Art and Design. Who knew then what she would accomplish now!

She also sends me little notes now and then saying she is praying for me and the TH.

So this year, during Thanksgiving Month, I want to say Thanks, Heather, for all you do as an offering of love for the TH but also for God - among many other tasks and activities. Thank you for finding your strength, your voice, and for not being afraid to make them known.

Thank you for pursuing what is good and right.

Thank you for being Heather Feather.
