If a Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words ...

... here's 2000 words, with a full heart of gratitude:

Dad at the lab this morning ...

Dad, home at Deb's, this afternoon.

Bronwyn reported the words he was reading, from the gospel of John chapter 10:

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

He is still very weak, but he has turned a corner; and his pulmonologist called and the H1N1 test came back negative! They have to find out what is wrong, but for now we are so grateful for what is wonderful ...

OK, you get 3000 words - per Bronwyn, "Now that the patient is doing better, the cute little nurse can rest!"

On the floor, next to the couch he's lying on ...

THANK YOU, all who have prayed and continue to pray for him. When Dad's reading his Bible again, all's right with the world!

    1. Wow, how sweet to picture them! Our parents go such a long way back, don't they?! Hoping we can all get together again for a visit some time soon ... xo

    2. A visit would be lovely! Yes, our folks have a tremendous history of serving the Lord, thankfully! What a legacy for us!

  5. I'm so thankful that he's getting better, and I continue to pray. You couldn't have posted more heartwarming pictures Aunty. There's nothing I could say that would be more eloquent than Scripture so:
    Psalm 46:1-2,4,10 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
    There is a river...
Be still, and know that I am God"
I can still remember Grandpa preaching a sermon to us from this Psalm.
I love you Grandpa; get well soon. :-)

  6. Blessings,
I just want to let you guys know how very much I appreciate your dad! This is Beverley Winkert, sister of Dudley Hooper and we have known your parents since way back in India when they were missionaries while we were growing up in the 70's. Your parents will ALWAYS hold a very special place in my heart. They witnessed our marriage back in 1988 and I still remember your dad's booming voice singing "Great is Thy faithfulness". Always smiling and always so wonderfully kind and generous, the Ironsides! Please know that my heart goes out to all of your family at this news of your dads illness and that we are all praying very fervently for him. I am so encouraged reading this blog, at the great faith that is reflected here, it is such a blessing to see God's grace at work even through such pain and tremendous heartache. Thank you for taking the time to update this. Please rest assured that we will continue to uphold "uncle" Ironside in prayer and also all of the rest of you as well as you nurse him back to health as God sees fit. God truly is good all the time no matter what happens...He will give grace so much greater for every trial and His mercies are new every morning amen! Love you guys in the Lord and are so thankful for the part your family played in ours. God bless you all and ((((hugs))) through all these difficult days. With Love from Above...Bev

    1. THANK YOU, Bev, for reading, praying, caring, writing.

It's funny how long our families have been connected. Dudley was here in 2012-2013 for New Year's and several times over the 2013-2014 holiday season Dad or one of us kids mentioned how much of an impact he made on, and encouragement he was to, our whole family, both as a group and individually last year. We missed him tremendously this year. We reminisced together about so many occasions when we laughed, cried, sang, met in Bangalore. I am so glad the Ironsides and Hoopers have such prevailing ties for all these years.

BTW, "Brat"??? You don't seem like a Brat to me!!

    2. Awwwww....yes Dudley always talks so fondly of you guys and your parents. The memories that we have are one of the many gifts God chooses to give us even when we cannot see you face to face. Your parents and family have been and will always hold such a special place in our hearts. Please know that for me, in reading this blog, if has renewed my hope once again, in the power of prayer. It has also reminded me of what a faithful God we serve. He meets us exactly were our needs are and accordingly, supplies them according to His perfect plan and in His perfect time. I am so thankful for your family and for the tremendous faith that is displayed thru this trial. Please know that you are covered with prayers and God is good all the time, no matter what the outcome, His mercies are new every single day. He grace is sufficient with every single trial that can possibly come your way. It is what you experienced at the passing of your dear, sweet mom and what we did when we lost our daddy. I know even if it were possible, I could never wish them back to this awful place after what they have experienced in heaven with Jesus...AMEN! Next stop is for us to go be with them, tho' I am in no hurry to do this, so we must be about the Father's business here until that appointed time. Love you guys and even tho' we have lost some time all these years....I am hoping we could keep in touch from here on out! (((((hugs)))) my friend and hope you and your family can continue to find comfort in the precious words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
BTW...yes Brat is a name that my hubby calls me and name i use in some of the games i play hahaha so thus it stuck...LOL ;)

Karyn, give your dad my greetings. I am so thankful for the winter that you spent in Castor and we got to know each other. Was it grade 8 or 9? Didn't we take French together with that funny little teacher, I forget his name.....Mr. Poitry, was it?

  18. ... And the really cool thing was, as we drove to the tests, traffic flow just seemed to open up for us! "Dad are you like Moses, or something, with the sea parting?!" Hardly any wait at the lab, either, and of course, in true Ironside fashion, a happy mini-picnic while we waited there, thanks to BA's gift of tea and raspberry scones!
